Prague 13 opens new Švestka kindergarten while Brno shuts popular preschool

The municipal district of Prague 13 is set to open the new Švestka kindergarten on 1 September. Built by developer Finep on its own land, the modern facility includes six classrooms, a large garden and a kitchen, and will accommodate up to 144 children. The project, funded with a 5 million‑koruna investment, is slated for handover to the district in June after a final inspection.

In Brno, the city council has announced the closure of a well‑known kindergarten, prompting a strong backlash from parents who rely on the centre for early‑child education. The decision has led to protests, although details of the reasons for the shutdown were not disclosed in the available report.
