Prague and Cheb Launch Major Road and Traffic Light Upgrades

In Prague, the Technical Administration of Roads (TSK) completed pre‑emptive surface repairs covering about 14,379 m² on key streets ahead of a large‑scale reconstruction of Kbelska Street. Work included milling, local defect removal and micro‑wave technology on dozens of avenues such as Střelničná, Ústecká, Kolbenova and others, and will continue in June with a plaza OSN overhaul, a temporary roundabout on Budovatelská Street and further adjustments on Novopacká.

In the western Czech town of Cheb, the municipality began a programme to rebuild traffic lights at main road junctions, starting with the Dukelská‑Žižkova crossing. The project aims to improve safety, traffic flow and environmental impact while preparing the network for future cooperative intelligent transport systems (C‑ITS). Temporary signal shutdowns during off‑peak hours, tactile paving, curb cuts and new road markings are being installed, and the new traffic control centre will collect data for engineering purposes.
