Prague and Zlín announce major transport infrastructure upgrades

Major transportation infrastructure projects are underway in Prague and Zlín to modernize transit hubs. In Prague, officials have selected a consortium led by SMP Construction to build a new transport terminal in Smíchov. The project, estimated to cost approximately 6.2 billion CZK excluding VAT, involves constructing a new bus station directly above the railway tracks to integrate trains, metro, trams, and buses under one roof. Construction is expected to begin next year, with a projected completion date in 2033.

In Zlín, plans are also in motion to transform the city's central transport hub. The proposed terminal will connect trains, regional buses, public transit, and taxis, including a new station building and a multi-functional complex featuring shops, offices, and gastronomy. Construction of the new station building is slated for 2027–2030, followed by the relocation of the bus station. Additionally, Zlín is planning the revitalization of Míru Square and the completion of the Minutka building, with Metrostav selected for the latter project at a cost of 192 million CZK.
