Prague Castle hosts exhibition of Czech coronation jewels

The Czech coronation jewels are currently on display at Prague Castle in the Vladislav Hall. Titled ‘Habsburgs 500’, the exhibition commemorates the 500th anniversary of the Habsburg dynasty's ascent to the Czech throne.

Visitors can view significant artifacts, including the St. Wenceslas Crown, the royal scepter, the orb, and coronation robes dating back to 1653. The exhibition traces the history of these items from their storage at Karlštejn Castle in the 16th century, through their relocation to Vienna during the Thirty Years' War, to their return to Prague in 1791.

The decision to hold this annual exhibition was made by President Petr Pavel. The event is open to the public daily from 09:00 to 17:00 until Monday, September 28, with free admission. Over 300 schools have already reserved visits. Additionally, a special program has been implemented for the visually impaired, featuring a replica of the crown that can be explored through touch.
