Prague Castle to offer tactile St. Wenceslas Crown tour for visually impaired
Prague Castle is introducing a specialized program to make the St. Wenceslas Crown accessible to blind and visually impaired visitors. On September 18, the castle will host a tactile tour in the authentic setting of the Vladislav Hall.
As part of the exhibition ‘Czech Coronation Jewels – Habsburg 500’, participants will be able to examine a detailed, single-piece tactile replica of the crown. This replica is designed to allow visitors to perceive the crown’s shape and intricate craftsmanship through touch, providing a sensory experience that verbal descriptions alone cannot achieve.
The program is specifically designed for visually impaired school groups and requires prior reservation. The tour will be led by experts Petr Chotěbor, an architect and conservator specializing in Prague Castle and Czech coronation jewels, and Pavlína Schneider, an exhibition producer. The Vladislav Hall is barrier-free, making the program accessible to visitors using wheelchairs and those accompanied by guide dogs.
