Prague Launches New Tram Route to Replace Cancelled Line 14
The City of Prague announced a replacement service for the discontinued tram line 14. Starting in September 2026, a temporary tram line 5 will run from Holešovice through the market hall, along Vltavská Street, over Hlávkův Bridge and into the city centre, with the opposite direction operated as line 6. The change will remain in effect until the end of 2026, after which additional adjustments are planned until 2027. As part of the re‑routing, tram line 34 will be withdrawn, and further short‑term connections will be provided to cover other scheduled roadworks on Hlávkův Bridge and nearby streets.
The new service aims to maintain a faster link between the Dělnická area and the city centre while the main network undergoes repairs, responding to public petitions for a shorter tram connection to central Prague.
