Prague Metro D construction begins at Nové Dvory

Construction has commenced on a new section of Prague’s Metro D line at the Nové Dvory site. The project has entered the tunneling phase, beginning with the excavation of an access and ventilation tunnel for the future station.

The construction is being carried out by a consortium including Subterra, HOCHTIEF CZ, HOCHTIEF Infrastructure, and BeMo Tunneling. To mark the start of the excavation, a wooden statue of Saint Barbara, the patron saint of miners and tunnelers, was blessed at the site.

The planned access and ventilation tunnel will be approximately 300 meters long. Excavation for this component is expected to continue until the end of the first quarter of 2027. Following this, work will proceed on the Nové Dvory station itself, including the construction of escalator tunnels and elevator shafts.
