Prague metro Flora station reopening delayed to 2027

The reopening of the Flora metro station on Prague’s Line A has been delayed by approximately three months due to unexpected structural issues. Originally scheduled to reopen in December 2026, the Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) now expects the station to remain closed until the end of February 2027.

Following the removal of sections of the station during reconstruction, an expert assessment by the Klokner Institute at the Czech Technical University in Prague revealed that the ceiling structure above the platform requires more extensive repairs than anticipated. The necessary work includes replacing reinforced concrete and steel beams, as well as installing missing fire-protection layers. DPP officials stated that a partial reopening is not possible because the structural work must be conducted at the platform level, making it unsafe to operate the station in limited sections.

The delay will result in a brief period where both Flora and Hradčanská stations are closed simultaneously. Hradčanská is scheduled to close in early January 2027 for escalator replacements. The total cost for the Flora reconstruction is estimated at 1.29 billion CZK.
