Prague Public Transport to Purchase Up to 200 New Buses

The Dopravní podnik hlavního města Prahy (DPP) has opened a public tender to acquire as many as 200 new twelve‑metre buses over the next five years. Up to 100 will be mild‑hybrid diesel models and up to 100 conventional diesel units, at an estimated cost of 1.58 billion Czech crowns (net of VAT). The vehicles will feature low‑floor entry, full‑width climate control, modern passenger information systems, wheelchair spaces and driver‑assist cameras.

In a separate contract, DPP has also signed an agreement for ten classic 12‑metre SOR Libchavy buses, priced at 6.7 million crowns each (total 67 million crowns, net of VAT). Delivery is expected within roughly 260 days. These buses will also have low‑floor access, air‑conditioning, anti‑collision systems and USB charging ports. Both procurements are part of a broader fleet modernisation that includes ongoing electric‑bus purchases and the construction of charging infrastructure, aiming to replace aging vehicles and improve accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility.
