Prague to retrofit 123 Škoda 15T trams with air‑conditioning systems

The Prague public‑transport operator, Dopravní podnik Prahy (DPP), has signed a six‑year framework contract with Polish firm Enika of Łódź to equip the remaining 123 Škoda 15T ForCity trams with modern climate‑control units. The deal, valued at about 70 million PLN (≈ 16.5 million EUR), will see each tram fitted with three iGlacio 17AC/6AC units, delivering 17 kW of cooling and 6 kW of heating. Installation work will be carried out in Łódź’s workshops, with trams transported there roughly every two weeks for the retrofit before returning to Prague. The upgrade aims to provide passengers with comfortable temperatures year‑round, improve air quality, and enhance the reliability of the tram system by mitigating overheating or freezing of onboard equipment.

The project represents one of Enika’s largest export contracts and will complete the climate‑control modernisation of Prague’s fleet of 250 Škoda trams, half of which already have factory‑fitted units. Completion is scheduled over the contract period, delivering a fully climate‑equipped tram network for the Czech capital.
