Pralhad Joshi blames Karnataka government for NEET re‑exam transport failures

Union Minister for Consumer Affairs Pralhad Joshi accused the Karnataka state government of failing to organise adequate transport for students taking the NEET‑UG 2026 re‑examination on June 21. He said the schedule was known nationwide yet the state diverted thousands of government buses to a political rally, leaving students and the public without necessary travel options. Joshi quoted, “Creating a problem and then holding students responsible reflects the height of irresponsibility.” Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge rejected the claim that the rally caused widespread disruption, stating that only three students missed the exam for individual reasons such as a missed bus or an outdated hall ticket. Joshi also questioned the need for the re‑exam, linking it to a nationwide paper‑leak scandal overseen by the Ministry of Education. The high‑stakes NEET‑UG re‑exam was conducted across India and in 14 international locations despite the controversy.
