Prato councilor proposes tasers for local police

In Prato, City Councilor Jonathan Targetti has called for a formal motion to introduce tasers as equipment for the local police. The proposal follows statements from Security Assessor Enrico Vellucci, who expressed openness to the idea of providing officers with electric pulse tools.

Targetti argues that current tools, such as pepper spray, may be insufficient when officers encounter individuals in altered states or those who are potentially armed. The councilor noted that a similar measure was approved in Milan in June. The motion is expected to be scheduled for discussion in the City Council during the first available session in September.
