Fairview drive-by shooting leads to two assault charges

Two individuals have been charged with assault with a weapon following a drive-by shooting near Fairview, Alberta. The incident occurred on the evening of September 8, when a victim was shot in the head during a dispute.

RCMP officials reported that the victim sustained only minor injuries as the weapon used was a pellet pistol. Following the incident, police located the suspect vehicle at a residence and obtained a search warrant.

Vanessa Michelle Basnett, 28, of Worsley, and Jaylee Brenda Rain Lizotte, 25, of Hines Creek, were taken into custody. Both suspects have been released on conditions and are scheduled to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Fairview on September 23, 2026.
