En el camino dominates the 68th Ariel Awards in Mexico City

The 68th Ariel Awards, organized by the Mexican Academy of Arts and Sciences Cinematographic (AMACC), were held on October 3 at the Estudios Churubusco in Mexico City. The film ‘En el camino’, directed by David Pablos, was the night's major winner, securing six awards including Best Picture, Best Director (shared with Pablo Pérez Lombardini for ‘La reserva’), Best Actor (Osvaldo Sánchez), Best Supporting Actor (Mariano López Sosa), Best Supporting Actress (Ángeles Cruz), and Best Cinematography.

Other notable winners included Diana Sedano for Best Actress for her role in ‘Juana’, and the film ‘Soy Frankelda’ for Best Animated Feature. The ceremony also featured several technical ties, including Best Visual Effects between ‘Autos, mota y rocanrol’ and ‘Un cuento de pescadores’.

In recognition of their lifelong contributions to Mexican cinema, the Ariel de Oro was awarded to Rosita Arenas and Demetrio Bilbatúa. The event, marking the AMACC's 80th anniversary, also served as a platform to discuss challenges facing the industry, including the need for better exhibition of national films and the dangers faced by journalists in Mexico.
