Premosello Chiovenda Wildfire Forces Evacuation of 120 Residents in Italy

A wildfire that has been burning for nine days in the eastern slopes of the Toce valley forced the evacuation of the Colloro hamlet in Premosello Chiovenda, Piedmont. About 120 residents, many of them elderly, were moved to a local care residence, which prepared thirty beds for those in need. The fire expanded from roughly 100 to 600 hectares in 24 hours, threatening the Val Grande National Park and prompting extensive use of aerial water drops by Canadair aircraft and helicopters launched from Rome.

Civil protection teams continue ground monitoring and assistance, while the fire front remains difficult to contain due to the rugged terrain. The operation emphasizes the risk from smoke and the urgent need to protect vulnerable populations.
