Prešov public transport fares to decrease starting October 12
Public transport fares in Prešov will decrease starting October 12 as part of a national government measure to mitigate high fuel prices. The temporary reduction aims to provide a cheaper alternative to individual car travel.
In Prešov, basic fares for full-paying passengers will be adjusted to match current discounted rates. This change applies to single-use tickets, SMS tickets, and monthly passes valid for up to 30 days. For example, a 60-minute SMS ticket in the first tariff zone will drop from 1.50 EUR to 0.75 EUR. Monthly passes will decrease to 19 EUR in the first zone and 22 EUR for network-wide validity. Existing discounts for eligible passengers remain unchanged.
The measure is scheduled to remain in effect until at least November 10, with the government continuously evaluating the situation based on fuel market developments. The state is also compensating local governments for the resulting loss in revenue. Additionally, temporary fare reductions will apply to regional buses within the IDS Východ network in the Prešov and Košice regions.
