President Bola Tinubu Secures APC Primary Win with Over 10 Million Votes, Praised by Lagos Governor
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate for Nigeria’s 2027 general election after receiving more than 10 million votes in the party’s primary. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo‑Olu publicly congratulated Tinubu, stating that the result reflects the confidence and trust that party members across the country place in his leadership.
Sanwo‑Olu highlighted the peaceful and well‑organised nature of the primary, commending the APC’s National Working Committee and state executives for a smooth exercise. He noted the party’s adoption of direct primaries as a sign of internal democracy that gives members a stronger voice. The governor also praised Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying the president has taken bold decisions aimed at stabilising the economy and laying the foundation for long‑term growth, and expressed optimism that Nigerians will continue to support this vision.
The primary outcome positions Tinubu as the ruling party’s standard‑bearer for the 2027 presidential race, a key step in Nigeria’s political calendar.
