President el-Sisi addresses Nile water security and diplomatic solutions
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to diplomatic and peaceful solutions regarding the Ethiopian dam issue, emphasizing that diplomacy will not come at the expense of Egypt's water rights and national interests. During discussions with community leaders, the President highlighted that water security is a vital priority for the country's future and its various rural and urban populations.
In a separate meeting held during the Alamein Africa Business Forum, President el-Sisi met with Burundian President Evariste Ndayishimiye, who currently serves as the President of the African Union. The leaders discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, irrigation, and energy.
Regarding the Nile water issue, President el-Sisi stressed the importance of cooperation among Nile Basin countries based on mutual interests and the principle of not causing harm to any party. He also expressed rejection of using the Nile water file for political gain.
