Turkey fund investigation: 282 people face legal action

Following a Cabinet meeting, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan provided updates on the ongoing investigation into investment funds. Legal proceedings have been initiated against 282 individuals, including board members of fund companies. Of these, 84 have been arrested, 27 are wanted, and 99 are under judicial control. Additionally, the assets of 254 individuals involved in the investigation have been frozen or seized.

To address investor grievances, a new legislative proposal has been submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Once passed, principal payments of up to 1 million lira are scheduled to begin in October. The government aims to conduct these liquidations transparently and without using public resources. Approximately 355,000 affected individuals have already begun receiving certain payments.

In other matters, the President discussed urban transformation efforts in Istanbul, emphasizing the need to accelerate building safety measures following recent incidents. He also announced an increase in the İŞKUR Youth Program quota to 150,000 for the 2026-2027 period, offering daily stipends to participating students.
