President Erdoğan leads Turkish High Military Council visit to Anıtkabir

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan chaired a delegation of the High Military Council (YAŞ) to Turkey’s Anıtkabir in Ankara before a council meeting. The group, which included Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, Justice Minister Akın Gürlek, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi, Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, Education Minister Yusuf Tekin, Chief of the General Staff Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu and commanders of the navy, air force and land forces, placed a star‑and‑crescent wreath at Atatürk’s tomb, observed a moment of silence and the national anthem.

After a photo session at the monument’s stairs, Erdoğan signed the Anıtkabir special register, writing a tribute to Atatürk, recalling the Malazgirt victory, and expressing hope that the council’s 2026 meeting would benefit the nation and the Turkish Armed Forces as a source of security amid regional tensions.
