President Erdoğan boosts export support and raises credit limit at TİM 33rd General Assembly

The Turkey exporters’ council (TİM) held its 33rd ordinary General Assembly at the Haliç Congress Center. Mustafa Gültepe was re‑elected unopposed as TİM president, pledging to accelerate the drive to place Turkey among the top ten exporting nations.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the gathering, noting that Turkey’s total merchandise and services export reached a record $395.9 billion in 2025 and that daily export hit $2.4 billion on 22 May. He highlighted sharp growth in high‑tech, defence and aviation exports, with defence sales rising 29 % to $3.86 billion.

Erdoğan announced a new financial package for exporters: the Central Bank’s re‑discount (reeskont) credit limit was raised from 4.5 billion to 5 billion lira per day, and EXIMBANK’s capital was increased to 100 billion lira to expand credit and guarantee support.

During the “Export Champions” awards, Turkish firms earned multiple honors. Turkish Airlines (THY) received the top service‑export award, reporting $24.1 billion in revenue for 2025 and confirming its status as the largest foreign‑exchange earner. Corendon Airlines and six other aviation companies entered the top‑10 service‑export list. Nine companies from Konya were also named among the country’s 1,000 biggest exporters.

Overall, the event combined leadership re‑selection, policy announcements and recognition of leading exporters, underscoring the government’s emphasis on expanding high‑value, technology‑intensive trade.
