President José Antonio Kast prepares for first Fiestas Patrias celebrations
President José Antonio Kast is set to observe his first Fiestas Patrias celebrations following his assumption of office. His official agenda for September focuses on returning to traditional milestones, including participating in the Te Deum Evangélico on September 13 and the Te Deum Católico on September 18.
In a departure from the previous administration, the President will inaugurate celebrations at Parque O’Higgins in Santiago rather than La Pampilla. The schedule also includes the traditional official cabinet photograph at La Moneda and attendance at the Military Parade on September 19, an event seen as symbolic of his support for military institutions.
In a separate regional engagement, Kast visited the Ñuble region to lead the civic-military parade commemorating the 248th anniversary of Bernardo O’Higgins' birth in Chillán Viejo. While the visit included the first blast for the future Zapallar reservoir, local authorities and stakeholders noted a lack of concrete announcements regarding regional infrastructure, health, and security needs.
