President José Antonio Kast Urges Fast Passage of Reconstruction Law, Criticizes Coalition Debates

At the 107th anniversary of the Chamber of Commerce of Santiago, President José Antonio Kast called for swift approval of the Reconstruction Law to remove bureaucratic hurdles hindering recovery in areas affected by recent storms. He highlighted recent public‑security gains, noting homicides fell 17.6% and kidnappings 46% compared with the same period last year, and praised Security Minister Martín Arrau.

Kast also criticised internal debates within the governing coalition, saying certain topics dominate headlines without adding value. He urged the agenda to focus on security, economic growth, employment, education and innovation, echoing concerns raised by the Chamber about unemployment and growth.

The president framed these issues as central to the Chilean public agenda and affirmed that the government is “well on track”.
