President Luis Abinader honors Dominican youth for Guinness World Record

President Luis Abinader received five Dominican students at the National Palace to recognize their achievement of setting a Guinness World Record for continuous reading. The group, consisting of Abril del Rosario Jiménez, Ismael Durán, Maikol Arias, Mayury Vélez, and Franchesca Minier, completed over 500 hours of uninterrupted reading aloud.

The reading marathon began on August 31 and lasted for 20 days and 20 hours, concluding on September 21. The feat was certified by Guinness World Records and aimed to promote reading habits among the nation's youth.

To support their academic development, the Dominican government awarded each participant a full university scholarship and a laptop. The students were accompanied by the Minister of Youth, Carlos Valdez, and the participants were selected by the Ministry of Education through the Directorate of Student Participation and Leadership.
