President Luis Abinader hosts FIBA delegation and launches Americas Investment Forum 2026

President Luis Abinader met with senior officials of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), including Secretary General Andreas Zagklis and FIBA Americas Executive Carlos Alves, at the National Palace. The talks focused on preparations for the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games slated for July‑August 2026 in Santo Domingo, which will feature over 6,000 athletes from 37 nations competing in 40 sports and 56 disciplines, with additional venues across the country.

On the same day, Abinader opened the Americas Investment Forum 2026 before more than 2,000 delegates from 52 countries. He underscored the Dominican Republic’s legal certainty, macro‑economic stability and a record foreign direct investment flow exceeding US$5 billion in 2025, urging investors to tap opportunities in nearshoring, free‑zone employment and technology transfer.
