President Museveni invites European investment into Uganda
President Yoweri Museveni has called on European investors and financial institutions to increase capital allocation toward Uganda’s energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, and agricultural sectors. During a meeting with European Union ambassadors and investors at State House Entebbe, Museveni highlighted Africa’s expanding consumer market and rapidly growing population as significant opportunities for business expansion.
Addressing economic policy, Museveni defended Uganda’s 10-year tax holiday for eligible manufacturers. He argued that such incentives are designed to stimulate local production and job creation rather than simply reducing government revenue. He noted that as manufacturing expands and household incomes rise, the government can recover revenue through increased consumer spending and income taxes.
The President emphasized the need for infrastructure projects that reduce transport costs and improve connectivity to link Ugandan markets with Europe. He also stressed that sustained economic growth requires political stability and an enabling environment for private-sector participation.
