President Prabowo discusses corruption definition with Yusril Ihza Mahendra

President Prabowo Subianto met with the Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional Affairs, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday to discuss a study by the National Economic Council (DEN) regarding the definition of corruption.

The DEN has proposed revising the current definition of corruption found in Law Number 31 of 1999 and Law Number 20 of 2001. While the President has not yet approved the changes, he has requested a more in-depth study to formulate a definition that aligns with the country's current situation.

During the meeting, the President inquired whether the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) limits the definition of corruption to bribery. Yusril clarified that UNCAC covers various aspects, including money laundering, fraud, and corruption by private parties, while allowing individual nations to formulate their own specific legal definitions based on international guidance.
