President Prabowo Leads TNI‑Backed Nationwide Harvest to Boost Food Self‑Sufficiency

President Prabowo Subianto attended a coordinated “Panen Raya” ceremony on 17 July 2026 at Lanud Abdul Rachman Saleh in Malang, with the three TNI branches simultaneously harvesting sugarcane, soybeans and rice at 43 sites across Indonesia. He framed food security as a national movement, stressing that it is not solely the Ministry of Agriculture’s task but a collective effort involving the armed forces, police and civil society. Prabowo repeated that the TNI and Polri are “children of the people” and highlighted their contributions to farms, bridge construction and water‑point projects.

During the event he reviewed PT Perkebunan Nusantara I’s bio‑ethanol pilot, noting a 100 kL per day capacity that supports renewable‑energy goals. He also assured investors of Indonesia’s legal certainty, citing the LNG Masela groundbreaking, and joked about the TNI shooters’ 12‑time international win. A finance‑minister briefing reported a resilient economy, with a long‑delayed gas block back in operation, the rollout of B50 biodiesel and plans for higher ethanol blends. Prabowo added that, if needed, defence and police budgets could be trimmed to fund poverty‑eradication programmes.
