President Prabowo Subianto Urges Anti‑Corruption Crackdown and Monitoring of Free Meal Program

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto addressed a gathering for the 79th Cooperatives Day, saying state‑owned enterprises (BUMN) have become a major source of corruption. He warned, “Porteremo ordine in questi BUMN. Finora i BUMN sono stati una fonte di corruzione,” and urged corrupt officials to stop the practice and return the wealth to the people.

The president also called on all levels of government – governors, regents, mayors, sub‑district heads and village chiefs – to directly supervise the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program. Speaking at the inauguration of the Meninting Dam in West Lombok, he stressed that any suspected misuse must be reported immediately to protect the quality of food for children and prevent personal gain by officials.
