President Prabowo summons cabinet ministers to review rising foreign investment in Indonesia

President Prabowo Subianto convened senior economic officials, including former finance minister Chatib Basri and the members of the National Economic Council, at the presidential palace on 9 June 2026 to discuss the state of the economy, the weakening rupiah and fiscal policy. Basri denied rumours that he had been offered the finance ministry.

A second meeting was held on 14 June 2026 at the president’s Kertanegara residence, attended by ministers of investment, finance, energy, state secretariat and others. In that session the president received a report from Investment and In‑shoring Minister Rosan Roeslani on increasing global investor confidence and a surge of foreign capital into strategic sectors. Prabowo instructed Roeslani to present the data publicly on 15 June 2026 at Merdeka Palace as part of a commitment to transparent, fact‑based communication.
