President Prabowo Urges Unity and Defends Indonesia’s Work Ethic
President Prabowo Subianto called on Indonesia's political elite to preserve democratic quality by respecting election outcomes, avoiding provocation and any anarchic actions that could threaten national unity. He emphasized that differences in party affiliation should not lead to violence or sabotage of public facilities.
In a separate remarks at the groundbreaking of the Masela gas project in the Tanimbar Islands, Prabowo rejected accusations that Indonesians are lazy, describing the population as hardworking—rising early, fishing, farming, hunting and enduring harsh conditions to secure livelihoods. He framed these statements as a warning against underestimating the nation’s effort and a reminder to uphold respect and cooperation.
