President Ruto launches infrastructure and irrigation projects in Kenya
President William Ruto has inaugurated several major infrastructure and agricultural development projects in Kenya. In Trans Nzoia County, he launched a Sh1.7 billion, 27.5-km road scheme designed to improve connectivity between communities and trading centers in the North Rift region. This project is part of a larger Sh18 billion plan to construct 270 kilometers of roads across the county to facilitate the movement of farm produce and access to essential services.
Additionally, the President inaugurated the first phase of the Ziwa 2 irrigation project in Uasin Gishu County. This KSh147 million (US$1.13 million) initiative aims to benefit 1,000 farmers by irrigating 500 acres of farmland, allowing for year-round production and a transition from rain-fed agriculture. The project includes solar-powered pumping systems and increased dam water storage capacity.
Other regional developments announced include electricity expansion projects in Cherangany and the Maili Tisa–Kitale Road expansion, alongside investments in local markets and educational facilities.
