On 12 July 2024, President Sergio Mattarella attended a ceremony in Andria marking the ten‑year anniversary of the 2016 Andria‑Corato rail disaster, which killed 23 people and injured dozens. Invited by Mayor Giovanna Bruno, he joined local officials in remembering the victims, announcing a permanent "Day of Remembrance" on 12 July and the naming of a new area of the Andria Central Station after those who died.

Later in the week, the Carabinieri celebrated their 212th foundation anniversary.
