President Tô Lâm awards Bravery Medal to teacher Hoàng Thị Hiền

President Tô Lâm has signed a decision to award the Bravery Medal to Hoàng Thị Hiền, a teacher at Phú Sơn Kindergarten in Nghệ An province, for her heroic actions in saving a student.

On August 28, Hiền rushed into the path of an oncoming truck to pull a 2-year-old boy to safety. While the child was unharmed, the vehicle ran over both of Hiền's legs, causing severe injuries. She was subsequently transferred to Viet Duc University Hospital in Hanoi for specialized treatment. Doctors have been working to preserve her limbs, though her right foot has faced complications including necrosis.

Hiền, a single mother of two young children, has received significant community support, with donations exceeding 2 billion VND. Officials from the Ministry of Education and Training, including Deputy Minister Nguyễn Thị Quyên Thanh, have visited her to offer encouragement and recognize her responsibility and courage.
