President Tufan Erhürman urges unity and stresses Turkish Cypriot resolve for a solution

President Tufan Erhürman said that the basis of politics must be the unity and will of the people, rejecting division, fragmentation and polarization. He urged that societal energy be directed toward productive work rather than partisan disputes.

Erhürman noted that the Turkish Cypriot community’s desire for a solution to the Cyprus issue exceeds the 63% vote he received in the presidential election. He outlined a four‑point methodology centred on “negotiation for a solution,” referenced ongoing EU talks that also cover Schengen, Hellim and other topics, and affirmed close coordination with Turkey on security, energy and maritime matters.

He highlighted the new Citizen Complaint Unit’s handling of 183 applications, resolving 132 within 200 days, and announced the upcoming reconvening of the Political Parties Council.
