Italy sports infrastructure: New facilities and stadium upgrades underway

Various Italian municipalities are advancing several sports infrastructure and urban regeneration projects. In Salerno, a new 3.5 million euro multifunctional sports facility has been inaugurated in the Mariconda area. Funded by PNRR resources, the 3,000-square-meter sustainable structure features photovoltaic energy and is designed for bodyweight disciplines, dance, and volleyball.

In Santarcangelo, a 25,000 euro investment is being directed toward the Cittadella dello Sport to improve green spaces, install a secure equipment container, and create a relaxation area for athletes. Meanwhile, in Gela, the national CONI has issued a favorable opinion regarding the Presti Stadium, a critical step for works funded by PNRR. Local officials are also awaiting final rankings for ministerial funding to rehabilitate the PalaCossiga.

Other regional updates include maintenance at Genoa’s Signorini training center, where new turf will be laid due to summer heat, and the near-completion of repairs at Perugia’s Stadio Curi, which includes work on the east stand and upcoming installation of a statue dedicated to Renato Curi.
