Preventive medical screenings for heart, kidney, and cancer detection

Preventive medical screenings play a critical role in detecting diseases before symptoms appear. In the Czech Republic, individuals over 50 are encouraged to undergo biennial check-ups with general practitioners. These examinations include monitoring blood pressure, EKG, and kidney function through creatinine and eGFR levels. For those with specific risk factors like obesity or diabetes, doctors may also test NT-proBNP levels to detect potential heart failure.

In Slovakia, the preventive care system includes dental, gynecological, and oncological screenings. Women are advised to undergo annual gynecological exams, which include cervical cancer screening. Additionally, women aged 45 to 75 are entitled to mammograms every two years to screen for breast cancer. Digital tools like the EZKarta application in the Czech Republic allow patients to track their screening history and laboratory results over time.
