Greece traffic accidents in Preveza and Evros leave multiple injured
Two separate serious traffic accidents occurred in Greece on Friday, August 14, resulting in multiple injuries.
In Preveza, a heavy truck collided with three passenger cars at the entrance of the Aktio-Preveza subsea tunnel. The collision occurred while the cars were stationary at a red light due to a previous vehicle breakdown inside the tunnel. The accident involved vehicles with Greek, Italian, and Romanian license plates. Eight people, including two children, were injured and transported to Preveza Hospital. Most victims were discharged shortly after, though one remains under observation. The crash caused significant traffic congestion, with queues stretching for several kilometers.
In the Evros region, a violent collision between two passenger cars took place on the Ormenio–Ardenio axis between the villages of Lykofi and Lyra. Six people, including children, were injured in the crash. Among the victims was a five-member family traveling in a vehicle with German license plates. Three of the injured, including the two drivers and one child, reportedly sustained more serious injuries. All victims were taken to the Didymoteicho General Hospital. Authorities are investigating the exact causes of the collision.
