Périgueux E. Leclerc station fuel contamination causes vehicle damage

In early August, fuel contamination occurred at an E. Leclerc service station in the Privilège zone of Périgueux, France. The contamination, caused by water infiltration into fuel tanks following recent severe weather, has affected dozens of motorists.

Affected customers reported significant mechanical failures in their vehicles shortly after refueling. Some described the contaminated diesel as having an unusual appearance, resembling “honey” or “mud,” and being thick and brown in color.

Repair costs for the damaged fuel pumps, injectors, and tanks are substantial, with some estimates reaching as high as 7,793 euros. Affected drivers are currently seeking compensation for these repairs from the station manager, Petrolec Sud.
