Prima Sport launches new Czech sports channel in August

TV Prima announced the launch of a dedicated sports channel, Prima Sport, scheduled to begin broadcasting on 17 August. The channel is created through a partnership with Perinvest Group, which has been operating the Sporty TV station since 2024. Ownership of Sporty TV lies with Tomáš Petera, while Johana Wimmerová serves as the financial project manager for the GES Group that supports the venture. Prima Group director Lukáš Kubát said the new channel expands the group’s sports‑content offering and will be available via terrestrial DVB‑T2 (MUX 24) and various IPTV platforms.

Pay‑TV operators are preparing to add Prima Sport to their line‑ups and must comply with a set of technical and commercial rules. These include limits on the number of devices that can simultaneously access the service, restrictions on ad‑skipping, protection of sports‑rights, and potential adjustments to wholesale distribution fees. Operators will also need to follow guidelines on channel placement within electronic programme guides and may face contractual limits on repositioning the channel.
