Primark recalls Disney-themed purse over chemical safety risks

Primark has issued an urgent recall for its ‘101 Dalmatians Faux Leather Coin Purse’ (Kimball no. 2595301) due to safety concerns. The Disney-themed product was sold in UK stores between March and June 2026.

The recall follows findings that the purse contains phthalates at levels exceeding permitted limits. Phthalates are chemical compounds used to soften plastics, but they are strictly regulated because they can pose health risks, particularly to children, including potential damage to the reproductive system.

The Office for Product Safety & Standards stated the product breaches the REACH Enforcement Regulations 2008 and the General Product Safety Regulations 2005. Primark has advised customers to stop using the item immediately and return it to any Primark store without needing proof of purchase.
