Primary elections in Utah's Summit County and Colorado move forward

Unofficial results from Utah’s Summit County primary show Democratic candidates leading the newly drawn County Council Districts 4 and 5. Attorney Christie Babalis leads District 4 with 310 votes (51%) over John Kucera’s 295, while incumbent Canice Harte holds a narrow 51% lead over school‑board president Meredith Reed in District 5. Both races had no Republican or unaffiliated challengers, and the final results will be certified on July 7.

In neighboring Colorado, voters are preparing for the June 30 primary. Ballots were mailed starting June 8, and voters may return them in person at drop boxes until 7 p.m. on election night or vote at polling sites from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day. All registered voters, including unaffiliated, can participate in Democratic and Republican primaries; the Libertarian Party restricts unaffiliated voting, while the Unity Party offers a separate ballot. Winners will advance to the November 3 general election.
