Prime Data Centers proposes expansive Starpointe campus

Prime Data Centers LLC has presented details for the proposed Starpointe Business Park data center project during a conditional use hearing in Hanover Township. The expansive campus is planned to include approximately 1.8 million square feet of data center space distributed across seven buildings.

The proposal includes a 350-megawatt natural gas power plant designed to operate independently from the local power grid. The facility would utilize a lateral connection to the nearby Rover Pipeline. If approved, the complex would occupy much of the unsold land in the business park, making it one of the largest data center developments in Southwestern Pennsylvania.

The hearing, attended by over 200 residents, saw significant public interest and opposition. Some community members expressed concerns regarding potential increases in air, light, and noise pollution. The Hanover Township Board of Supervisors is currently considering the conditional use permit, with additional hearings scheduled through the end of September.
