Vietnam economic update: Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh report strong growth

Vietnam's economic landscape shows varied regional performance in the first nine months of 2026. Ho Chi Minh City reported a GRDP growth of 9.06%, its highest in over a decade, contributing significantly to the national economy. To reach its annual target of 10.2%, the city must achieve a 13.23% growth rate in the fourth quarter. Key priorities for the city include reaching a budget revenue target of 1 quadrillion VND and completing 100% of public investment disbursement, which currently stands at 75.5%.

In the southern region, Tay Ninh province achieved a 10.3% GRDP growth, ranking 10th among 34 provinces. Authorities have urged the province to maintain this momentum, particularly in the industry and construction sectors.

Nationally, Vietnam's GDP growth reached 9.01% in the third quarter, marking a 15-year high. Meanwhile, the construction sector has emerged as a leading growth driver, with a value increase of 10.31% during the first nine months of the year.
