Prime Minister Modi to Inaugurate Bhogapuram International Airport in Andhra Pradesh

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and invited him to inaugurate the Bhogapuram International Airport on August 1. The Prime Minister accepted the invitation and will preside over the opening ceremony in Andhra Pradesh.

In conjunction with the inauguration, the state government announced a program to provide free air travel to farmers who donated land for the airport project, honoring their contribution. Naidu also discussed with Union ministers issues ranging from agricultural support for aqua farmers and shrimp feed manufacturers to irrigation projects, including a proposed Godavari‑Cauvery river linking scheme, and sought central assistance for the Visakhapatnam Metro Rail.

The event is expected to boost regional connectivity and economic development in north‑Andhra, while the free‑travel initiative aims to recognize the farmers’ sacrifices.
