Prime Minister Ünal Üstel announces expanded support for Northern Cyprus farmers and beekeepers

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel met with officials of the Beekeepers Union and the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources in Northern Cyprus, reiterating the government’s pledge to stand by producers. He highlighted measures such as financial aid, incentives and social‑insurance premium support that have helped cut the unemployment rate from double‑digit levels to 0.4 %.

The agriculture ministry reported a 40 % increase in bee colonies and a rise to 150 hives receiving social‑insurance support, aiming to make beekeeping a viable investment for young people. Üstel also referenced a financial cooperation protocol signed with Turkey to sustain these sectoral programmes.
