Two People Rescued by Helicopter in Stenshuvud National Park

On the evening of June 19, 2026, a man and a woman became stranded on a steep cliff in Stenshuvuds national park on Sweden’s midsummer eve. SOS Alarm alerted rescuers at around 16:00, and after an hour the pair were located. A maritime rescue helicopter from Kristianstad was dispatched and, by 19:00, the two individuals were winched up and transferred to ambulance staff on the ground. The victims were conscious and able to speak; officials did not confirm any serious injuries.

The operation was coordinated by rescue team leaders Anna Gunnesur and Sören Gustavsson, with on‑scene command by Mattias Sköld of the fire service. The incident highlights the challenges of emergency response in rugged terrain and the use of air assets to reach isolated persons during the midsummer holiday period.
