Prime Video to invest $2 billion in Latin American content and sports

Prime Video has announced a major strategic investment of over $2 billion in Latin America scheduled between 2027 and 2030. The initiative, unveiled at an event in Mexico City, focuses on original local programming, licensed content, and live sports rights in five key markets: Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, and Chile.

The platform aims to more than double its volume of local original productions by 2030 compared to 2026 levels. For 2027 alone, the service has confirmed more than 25 new titles, including fiction series, films, variety shows, and reality programs. Notable upcoming projects include the second season of 'Tremembé' in Brazil and various productions in Mexico and Argentina.

In the sports sector, Prime Video has secured rights to broadcast 38 home matches of the Mexico National Team over a four-year period. The company is also expanding its digital services, including rentals, purchases, and third-party subscriptions, to additional territories such as Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Paraguay, Peru, and Argentina. Additionally, Amazon MGM Studios will support local talent through training programs like 'Brasil no Set'.
