Prime Video renews horror series ‘Carrie’ for second season
Prime Video has officially renewed the horror series ‘Carrie’ for a second season following the successful debut of its first season on October 7. The series, a modern reimagining of Stephen King’s 1974 novel, reached number one in more than 105 countries shortly after its release.
Showrunner Mike Flanagan and executive producer Stephen King will continue to lead the production. Flanagan has indicated that the series was envisioned as a multi-season arc, intended to expand the story and the mythology of Carrie White beyond the events of the original book and the famous prom scene.
The first season stars Summer H. Howell as Carrie White and Samantha Sloyan as her mother, Margaret White. The narrative updates the classic tale by incorporating contemporary themes such as social media bullying and viral scandals. While specific plot details for the second season remain under wraps, the renewal promises to explore new character arcs and the consequences of the protagonist's emerging telekinetic powers.
