Prime Video renews Mike Flanagan’s Carrie for second season

Prime Video has officially renewed the horror series ‘Carrie’ for a second season following its successful global debut. The series, based on the Stephen King novel and directed by Mike Flanagan, reached number one in over 105 countries and garnered 1.26 billion minutes viewed according to Nielsen data.

While the first season followed the narrative arc of the 1974 novel, the second season is expected to expand the story beyond the iconic prom scene. Flanagan has indicated an ambition for a multi-season arc, potentially developing the series into a trilogy that explores new character developments and psychological depths.

The production features Summer H. Howell as Carrie White and Samantha Sloyan as Margaret White. The series has been noted for its contemporary setting, addressing modern issues such as social media and cyberbullying.
